Houndstooth Wrap FREE Crochet Pattern

I am totally into the Houndstooth motif lately! Also known as Pied-de-poule. This pattern never really goes out of style I think , but I noticed it being very fashionable this Fall/Winter. So I just had to crochet something with this stylish duotone pattern. I made lots of colored Houndstooth swatches to finally decide to make a shawl in the traditional black and white combo after all!

You can get the free pattern and photo tutorial below or support me by purchasing the fully written and ad-free PDF version of this pattern in my Etsy or Ravelry shop.

Or pin it here for later on Pinterest.

Materials

You can use any kind of yarn with matching hook size.

I used Stylecraft special DK 100% premium Acrylic (100gr/295m) with a Clover hook 4mm.

Color A: 2x Cream 1005

Color B: 2x Black 1002

My shawl measures: long side about 215cm, point 75cm.

Abbreviations US terms:

beg beginning

ch chain

ch-sp chain space

dc double crochet

slst slipstitch

st stitch/stitches

tr treble crochet

Instructions:

Rows 4 and 5 form the pattern rows.

Repeat these rows until your shawl has the desired size, (my shawl has 80 rows here). End with a row 4 repeat.

Finishing row:

3ch (counts as 1 tr), 2 dc in between the 3ch and dc, 1dc in next st, repeat [1dc in next st, work 1dc over the 1ch-sp in row below, 1dc in next 2 st] until the last st, (2dc, 1tr) in between the last 2 st. Cut yarn, fasten off and weave in all ends.

So in this row we do not chain and skip stitches, but work a dc in every stitch

Finishing row: This row is the same as row 5 but do not chain and skip stitches, work a dc in every stitch
