Free Pattern Floating Diamond Stitch

I hope you enjoy this stitch as much as I do! Please tag me on social media when you share a project made with this stitch.

You can use any kind of yarn with matching hook size.

I used Glam by Durableyarn which is the same as Twinkle by Scheepjes a 75% Cotton x 25% Polyester blend, 50g/130m with hook 5mm

Start with a multiple of 4 chains, yarn over twice and find the 5th chain from hook.

double crochet in 5th chain but don’t finish

repeat in next two chains and finish all three of them together

work a dc on top of those 3dc (yarn over and pull through 2 loops twice)

treble crochet in next chain and find the bottom part of the treble

double crochet twice in this bottom part of the treble

repeat until end of chain and treble crochet in last chain, chain 4 and turn

treble crochet in next stitch and double crochet twice in bottom part, yarn over twice, double crochet 3 together in next 3 stitches and work a double crochet on top

repeat and end with a treble in 4th chain of begin previous row.

Now that you understand the basics of this stitch you can try out different shapes like a bottom up or bottom down shawl and even a granny square. I made some charts for that.
